TAKOM2188 1/35 Object 279 w/NBC Commando Plastic-Model Kit
Object 279 was a Soviet experimental tank that was developed in 1950. In the 1950s the Soviet Union developed several plans for new heavy tanks. One of these was the Object 279 – a heavy vehicle designed to be used in a nuclear conflict.
This vehicle was unique in its shape. It had four tracks on each side of a fluid-curved disc body, which deflected the shockwaves and blast waves caused by a nuclear explosion. The prototype was finished in 1959, and several tests were performed. The test results showed that the vehicle was able to maneuver on rough roads due to the ground pressure created by the four tracks. This was similar to the force of a light-tank, as well as the engine’s high output. The tracks are movable and connectable
